Seymour Harris Architecture were part of the consortium Bidding Process for the rebuilding of nine Fire Stations in Central
London. The project involves the demolition of the existing stations and constructing new stations designed to meet the changing
needs of London Fire Brigade. The new stations are designed to achieve BREEAM excellent and will accommodate the
current lightest and heaviest vehicles and in the main have an additional appliance bay providing flexible deployment of equipment.
As part of the PFI two of the new Fire Stations will have state of the art BA Training facilities incorporating a variety of simulation
scenarios and hazards, as well as line rescue. The existing sites are all very compact and space is at a premium; yard space,
therefore is a priority and has to be maximised without compromising operational efficiency. Many of the stations are therefore
three storey requiring challenging solutions.
